Globalized CTe is a type of knowledge that can be issued by a carrier when providing a service that involves several recipients or shippers, but a single borrower. What is the difference between globalized CTe and normal CTe?

The globalized CTe has the same objective and functions in the same way as the common CTe. The difference lies in the fact that the first provides an indicator which makes it possible to include several invoices intended for the same delivery or resulting from the same collection in a single bill of lading.

What are the advantages of the globalized CTe?

The main advantages that the globalized CTe brings to the operation of carriers are linked to greater agility in issuance, and also to the economy, since in delivery operations, even with the involvement of many shippers, or many recipients, only one CTe on delivery.

Who can issue the globalized CTe?

Any company qualified to issue the common CTe can do so. However, the legislation provides certain conditions to be met in order to issue the global vehicle inspection:

  • limited to state transport: the entire transport operation must be carried out within the limits of a single state, which includes loading the cargo, the route taken by the vehicle and unloading at destination;
  • involve 5 or more NF-es: the cargo transported must have at least 5 electronic invoices (NF-es) linked. It is important to know that the transaction should only have one sender or recipient;
  • lessee is shipper or recipient: the lessee of the transport service must be one of the shippers or recipients who is linked to the globalized CTe.

Can goods without invoice be included in the globalized CTe?

No. The existence of NF-e is mandatory, as well as the information of your access key in the field corresponding to the knowledge.

What are the parts of the globalized CTe?

If you don’t know the actors involved in the CTe, read the definition of the principals:

  • Issuer: issuing company of the Common or Globalized CTe. It must be present in all documents related to transport and, in most cases, it is the transporter who manages the operation;
  • shipper: sends the goods and can be the issuer of the NF-e – except when the operation is carried out by redeployment;
  • consignee: who receives the goods at the end of the transport journey. It can be either a legal person or an individual;
  • borrower: who pays the freight for the transport operation. It can be any other actor explained above or a third-party company not listed in the CTe.
  • consignee: who receives the goods from the carrier. It is an intermediary between the sender and the final recipient. He is informed when there are forwarding or multimodal transport services;
  • shipper: delivers the cargo to the carrier if the shipment is not made by the shipper. It could be a logistics or transport company that will be the intermediary of the operation, for example.

How is the globalized CTe issued?

First of all, the same procedure as for issuing a common CTe must be initiated. During the process, you will come across the new field “Globalized CTe” (which exists since CT-e 3.0), which must be checked to inform the tax administration of the issuance of this type of CTe.

Pay attention to the other fields to make sure your requirements are met. The origin and destination UFs must be the same, in addition to attaching 5 NF-es from different companies.

There are only two situations in which a globalized CTe can be used. We bring each one below and explain the details to be observed when issuing the document.

Occurs when the shipping company receives goods from 5 or more shippers and then delivers them to a common consignee. This happens when the same establishment receives products from different suppliers, for example.

This is the most common situation and the borrower will always be the beneficiary of the fees. When filling in the information on the CTe, the carrier data must be entered in the sender’s data, but using the word “Miscellaneous” as the corporate name.

If any of the goods transported has the borrower as shipper, the latter cannot be included in the globalized TCe and must have a separate common TCe.

Different deliveries from the same sender

Here, the carrier picks up or receives the goods from a single shipper and delivers them to at least 5 different recipients. A practical example of this situation is when a supplier ships their products to different companies.

In this case, the borrower CTe must be the sender. The information of the transport company must be placed on the recipient before the issuance of the CTe and the company name must also be changed to “Miscellaneous”.

Imagine a carrier picks up goods from a shipper and delivers them to at least 5 different recipients. In these cases, the generation of globalized CTs is authorized. If there is an NF-e in which the borrower is the recipient of the transport, a separate common CTe must be carried out for it.

What is CTe 3.0?

Periodically, the Government updates the layout of its digital documents in order to apply their functionalities, correct problems and facilitate its use by users. Version 3.0 of the CTe entered service in 2016 and introduced the optional field, in which the issuer can indicate whether the CTe is globalized or not.

Before 2017, only the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais allowed the generation of MOT with different recipients. With the advent of CTe 3.0, all UFs can emit this type of knowledge.
